Kazuhiko Shimamoto's "Aoi Honoo" to be adapted as a TV series! Starts this July on TV Tokyo!

A serial drama adaption of Kazuhiko Shimamoto's comic "Aoi Honoo", which runs in Shogakukan's Monthly Shonen Sunday, will air on the TV Tokyo network beginning this July.

"Aoi Honoo", based loosely on author Kazuhiko Shimamoto's college years, tells the story of a young creator in the early '80s, hungry to make a name for himself, who is alternately inspired and made envious by hits of the era like Gundam and Touch.

The lead role of Moyuru Honoo will be played by Yuya Yagira, winner of a Cannes Film Festival Best Actor Award. The series will be written and directed by Yuichi Fukuda, best-known for Yusha Yoshihiko and The Three Young Men.
