"The Lady and the Unicorn" at National Art Center, Tokyo beginning 4/24!

The Musée national du Moyen Âge - Thermes et hôtel de Cluny's "The Lady and the Unicorn" tapestries, featured in Mobile Suit Gundam UC, will be exhibited at the National Art Center, Tokyo in Roppongi from April 24th through July 15th.

The panel "À Mon Seul Désir", showing a noblewoman before a blue tent flanked by a lion and a unicorn, appeared in the episode Day of the Unicorn and is one of six panels in this historic work making its first Japanese exhibition.
40 other pieces from the Musée national du Moyen Âge's collection of medieval European art will also be exhibited.

"The Lady and the Unicorn", centerpiece of the Musée national du Moyen Âge - Thermes et hôtel de Cluny collection, is a tapestry spanning six panels and 22 meters. Vibrant Millefleur stitching carries a different theme on each panel: five for the five senses touch, taste, scent, hearing, vision, and finally one titled "À Mon Seul Désir" or "My Sole Desire". This final panel is thought by many to represent love, wisdom, or even wedded bliss, but the original intent is lost to the ages.

General admission is ¥1,500, with college students admitted for ¥1,300, high school students admitted for ¥800, and middle school students or younger admitted free.
